His bedroom in Arles was an inspirational theme for Vincent Van Gogh. As he depicted the room three times, the room was already immortalized. Now, the famous bedroom also found existence in Chicago, thanks to a special collaboration between the Art Institute of Chicago and Airbnb.
All three versions of Van Gogh’s paintings of his bedroom in Arles will be exhibited in Chicago, for the first time. The exhibition advances a deeper look into the paintings and the notion of home. To celebrate and further elaborate, The Art Institute of Chicago made a replica of Van Gogh’s bedroom in Chicago and put it up online for rent on Airbnb.
It will be possible to rent the room on Airbnb until the end of the exhibition, that is the 10th of May, 2016. The price to rent the room is only 10$ per night, including free admission to the exhibition.
The ad on Airbnb describes the room as follows:
“This room will make you feel like you’re living in a painting. It’s decorated in a Post-Impressionist style, reminiscent of Southern France and times gone by. Its furniture, bright colors, and artwork will give you the experience of a lifetime.”
